Create a test project in Katalon Studio
To create a test project in Katalon Studio:

Go to File > New > Project.

In the New Project dialog, enter a project name.

Choose a Type. Generic, Web, Mobile, and Desktop projects provide standard testing features. API/Web Service projects provide features specific to API testing, including importing requests from OpenAPI specifications, WADLs, WSDLs, and Postman.

In Start with, choose a blank project or a sample project. A sample project fills in its Repository URL. For a blank project, choose whether to generate a
.gitignoreorbuild.gradlefile. -
From Katalon Studio 11.7.0, use Enable AI capabilities for this project to choose whether the new project uses AI. This option applies to blank and sample projects.
- When selected, a blank project starts with the default AI settings (AI failure reason analysis and AI self-healing on). A sample project keeps its existing AI settings.
- When cleared, the project starts with AI capabilities and every AI feature off.
- Katalon Studio remembers your choice for the next new project. Clicking Cancel does not change it.
- If no AI provider is set up, or your license does not include AI features, the option is cleared and disabled, and the project is created with AI off.

In Location, choose a folder where you have read and write permission. Do not store projects in the Katalon build folder.

Enter a Description, then click OK.
Katalon Studio creates the project. You can change its AI settings later in Project > Settings > AI Capabilities. See Turn AI capabilities on or off for a project.
When you open a sample project for the first time, Katalon Studio displays the Trust and open this project dialog. See Trust dialog on first open.
Create API/Web Service project​
To create an API/Web Service project, follow the steps above and select API/Web Service as the Type. These projects have a dedicated toolbar and view for API testing. You can import Swagger or WSDL definitions and view request history.
