Record and execution tests on pre-installed apps

TestCloud supports recording and executing mobile test cases on pre-installed (stock) apps such as Chrome, Contacts, or Safari in Katalon Studio.

This feature shows you test pre-installed apps on private and public devices.

Set desired caps

1. In Katalon Studio, go to Project > Settings > Desired Capabilities and select TestCloud.
2. In the TestCloud settings table, add suitable desired caps for your device:
   • Android devices:

• iOS devices:

For private devices

If you are testing on a private device in TestCloud:

1. Upload or install your target app in the Mobile App Live Testing page. Refer to this guide: Live testing on mobile app.
2. Navigate to Katalon Studio. You can then:
   • Use the Mobile Recorder with the private device and the uploaded app. Refer to Record objects on a TestCloud device
   • Execute test suite/test suite collection: Run mobile native app tests in Studio

For public devices

For public TestCloud devices, after setting the desired capabilities, you can test with the pre-installed apps such as such as Contacts, Chrome (Android), Safari (iOS), etc.

iOS known limitations

• Due to the restriction on iOS devices, some built-in apps are not accessible for testing on public devices.
